1. 52 GENERAL MANAGEMENT I E 21 KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Menjawab Masalah Apa Hampir seluruh perusahaan atau organisasi saat ini menggunakan Key Performance Indicators (KPI) sebagai salah satu cara untuk mengukur kinerja perusahaan. Namun seringnya KPI yang telah ditentukan oleh perusahaan belum dapat menggambarkan proses bisnis di lapangan dan tidak sesuai dengan sasaran perusahaan yang diinginkan. Berbagai istilah ukuran kinerja lainnya seringkali membaur dengan KPI dan dianggap sama sehingga kinerja perusahaan tidak dapat selaras dengan keinginan perusahaan. Penerapan KPI yang tidak sesuai dengan pemahamannya akan berdampak pada kinerja perusahaan menjadi turun, tidak tumbuh dan tidak efi sien dari berbagai aspek. Untuk itu diperlukan pemahaman mendalam mengenai KPI itu sendiri mulai dari, jumlah ideal KPI yang diterapkan, penyelarasan dengan Balance Scorecard (BSC) dan sasaran perusahaan, pengembangan KPI, hingga evaluasi. Apabila setiap langkah dan kriteria dalam penentuan KPI telah sesuai bagi kebutuhan masing-masing perusahaan melalui analisis singkat dan praktis maka KPI dapat dijadikan sebagai pedoman pengukuran kinerja di perusahaan atau organisasi. Most of KPI’s that have been determined by the company, has not demonstrated the day-to-day business process and it is not aligned with the company’s objectives. Other various performance measurement terms are often mixed-up with KPI itself and it is considered similar, which is resulted in company’s performance being not aligned with the company’s objectives. The implementation of KPI that is not aligned with its purpose will give impact to company performance, which became decreasing, not growing and ineffi cient from various aspects. To achieve company’s objectives, there is a need to comprehend in details about KPI itself, starting from the ideal number of items in KPI that are being implemented, the alignment of Balance Scorecard (BSC) with the company’s objectives, KPI development, and the evaluation. If each steps and criteria in determining KPI items have been aligned with each company’s objectives by way of concise and practical analysis, thus KPI may become guidance of performance measurement in the company or organization.
